The temperature is getting hotter and any of us with a pulse are fantasizing about warm Florida sun, crisp fresh cocktails and scantily clad opposite sexes. But, then we open our eyes and in Jersey we stay! Thank our sweet stars that someone’s answered our hedonistic prayers with 46 Lounge’s new Miami Summer Patio. Now Miami isn’t a plane flight and ostentatious hotel away it’s but a mere car ride.
I recently visited 46 Lounge on a Friday night and was blown away with the energy and vibe there. Completely renovating its exterior, 46 Lounge has brought hot Miami nights to Jersey and keeps that heat going Wednesday through Saturday 7pm till 3am. Doing a little people watching, i saw that getting a little wild is not a problem and there’s no need to stress having warm fireball shots either, yuck! There is a brand spanking new fireball chiller that keeps those shots at a frosty 20 degrees. They also added a Malibu Bar to allow you to sip fun concoctions with drink specials every night. Quench your thirst on Friday nights for Mango Mojito and Italian Ice Martini deals. If fruity umbrella topped drinks don’t tickle your pickle, beer aficionados can bask in the glory of the Heineken Airless Tap System for NJ’s freshest draft. But if drink specials aren’t your thing, the Patio at 46 Lounge offers full outdoor VIP bottle service, so call to reserve a table.
While wetting your whistle with great drinks, you can enjoy an ambiance that is everything you would expect from a Miami Night out. Hang by the bar, dance, or feel free to sit back in the Cabana and enjoy flavored Hookahs. Complete with palm trees and new bars, plush lounge areas and white linen everything you’ll be in the sunshine state of mind.
And just incase the patio overwhelms you with its Miami Heat, cool down inside for a whole other experience. With two Dj’s pumping the beats, you can switch it up from inside to out. Remember, this is no dive bar, dress trendy, this is basically like Miami, you have to fit in with the chic crowd and you also have no fickle Florida rain to worry about. The patio has a full LED lit canopy not to mention the rain can’t even stop your grand entrance since the entrance line area is also fully covered and LED lit of course! So forget the airport and get your Miami on right here with the best outdoor hot spot North Jersey has to offer.– Christine Simmons, Metropolis Nights Magazine

Gone are the wet T-shirt girls taking showers for patrons’ amusement; 46 Lounge is a city-style lounge, the kind of place you see on TV but are never able to locate. The inside has been completely redone with bright paint, several classy bars and couches galore. It includes a large patio with seating and yet another bar for those warm summer evenings. The line to get in was well over 100 people long on opening night, and as word gets out about this gem its popularity will definitely increase.”

“46 Lounge, a brilliantly vogue club that ironically, incorporates elements of Manhattan, Miami and Los Angeles is located right off New Jersey’s own Route 46 and is a place where diversity is encouraged, and the party never ends. According to owner, Hendrick, it’s important to welcome “people of different races, ethnicities and backgrounds” to 46 Lounge. Hendrick’s accepting attitude developed as he, an Asian-American, grew up in an Italian neighborhood.
When he opened the club just over a year ago, Hendrick intended to create a chic, upscale New-York-esque venue without the New York commute. Judging by the line outside and the wild crowd inside, his mission was successful. With three martini and wine bars and a design that includes Italian metallic tile, an off-set VIP area made for the rich and famous and suitable for anyone, a natural earth-toned atmosphere (bathrooms are comprised of elements such as slate and steel), the club is guaranteed to make any party-goer feel A-list…but there’s even more where that came from. The small plate menu is to die for, featuring what Hendrick described as “Modern American, with Mediterranean, Italian, Asian, and Latin influence.
Hendrick is so interested in diversifying his crowd, he decided to do more than just celebrating America on July 4. Not only did he create the largest and most entertaining event for the holiday, he also decided to celebrate countries from around the world (of course, making America the main event), and decorated the entire venue with flags of various countries, streamers, and, of course, the eccentric Lounge 46 crowd with plenty of panache to go around. The staff deserves plenty of credit, too. Even with constant business, they’re always offering a great service while simultaneously having a great time themselves.
And be warned, this isn’t a place for a wallflower. The high energy club definitely made for those who dress to impress (Ladies, look fabulous! HotShotz is frequently there to take a picture of you and your friends having a blast) and want to have a great time, whether by sitting on the posh couches along the walls and enjoying the chic atmosphere and the handsome crowd, or by dancing all night..indoors or out. The music is usually house, hip-hop, or reggaeton, so anyone looking to dance will literally have a ball…and there’s plenty of music to dance to!
Some of the many events that take place at the lounge are: Afterwork Fridays, the lounge’s corporate happy hour with DJ Joey C (who spins a variety of music from current Top 40 hits to music from the 80s and 90s) and free hors d’oeurves from 6-8 pm. Fridays also offer $5 martinis, specialty cocktails, and $3 beers until 9 pm; Status Thursdays with DJ Joey C and DJ Todd George; Latino or not, you all will enjoy Latin Saturdays featuring some of the best Latin DJs in the area, with music that includes salsa, merengue, bachata, freestyle, house and Spanish rock. Enjoy the sounds while sipping $5 Mojitos and Apple Martinis until midnight.
In the past, the lounge has thrown parties with appearances by Danity Kane, Lumidee, and even a “Teacher Appreciation Night.”– Chantel Gabel, Steppin’ Out Magazine

“Whoosh. Whoosh.
Close your eyes. Visualize. Waves lapping at the Shore?
An ever so-slight similarity does exist between smooth-flowing traffic and the gentle roll of the ocean.
The outdoor patio, courtesy of 46 Lounge in Totowa, offers the soothing sound of traffic among endless other tropical experiences affiliated with warm, summer nights.
“You wouldn’t think that it looked like this inside, from passing it on the road,” said Will Morel of West Orange .
Yes the former Sport Sexy Café has experienced a transformation. Still sexy, as in the décor and well-dressed patrons and employees; still sporty, as in the flat-screens all around, including two patio side. Yet, this establishment offers tasteful equal opportunity scoping for men and women.
Sandwiched between a 24-hour International House of Pancakes and bagel shop, the simple name speaks volumes but not as much as an outing to witness the wow-appeal inside.
“It’s very elegant and chic,” said Elizabeth Morel, Will’s wife.
Equally impressed with the décor was her friend Jasleen Kurain, who was returning for her second time- this time with first-timers in tow. On a quest for tropical concoction, the trio bellied up to one of three bars and pored over the extensive drink menu.
Relaxing with pomegranate martinis, the trio drank in the surroundings.
Three metallic bars accented by cherry wood and seductive lantern-style lighting, the universal wattage of lounges. Then there’s the lounging, made possible by cushy, earth-tone sofas- the kind you just fall into- a bonus for dates going well. Accompanying each couch, a candle lit table, topped off by a bunch of white balloons.
“I thought there was a private party here,” Elizabeth Morel said.
Party yes. Private no.
The balloons were a celebratory gesture made on behalf of the staff to ring in Status Thursdays.
Those in the know are privy to an everlasting happy hour from 5 to 11 p.m. The six-hour window of opportunity includes specials such as $5 martinis and free appetizers.
“Free?” Such was the in-stereo reaction of four patrons when the bartender informed them of the food lottery at hand. And we’re not talkin’ oiled-down pot-stickers or pigs in blankets warmed over.
Does coconut shrimp, fried calamari and Mediterranean hummus whet your appetite? How about a rotating buffet of music from pop to rock to house music & dance hits?
Having polished off some appetizers and deep into drink specials, a group of co-workers from an unnamed near-by retail store jump-started their party when the clock struck 5.
Mango martinis all around, please.
The drinks and ambiance were the draw for Maria Chrishoidis of Bergenfield , Brenda Walshe of Elizabeth and Regina Madsen of Little Falls.
“They have good drinks, music and good décor,” Walshe said.
The atmosphere and convenience earned an equal nod from the male contingent of this group.
“It’s close to work, it’s a good atmosphere and they have a good happy hour,” said Danny Hatizkonstinos of Queens , N.Y.
While this crowd owned the front bar, others headed directly for the door-as in the out-doors.
The balmy night beckoned later arrivals to the patio to soak up the moon and stars.
Whoosh. Whoosh,
It really does sort of sound like the ocean.”– Ellen S.Wilkowe, Daily Record
